Something Scary Happened Last Night

I went to bed at around 1am last night, for the next 20 minutes I couldn't get to sleep.

All I could here was a dog barking REALLY loud, and it seemed close, yet far from the house. After those 20 mins though, I heard a weird and extreamly terrifying sound. There was like a scream, but it was inhuman, it scared the sh!t out of me, it was like it was right outside my house.

I have no idea what it was, but I wasn't game to check it out...

wuss.....go check it out next time. When I hear inhuman screams, it's usually my wife realizing who she's married to.

Well Jewboy, lets put it this way, you hear a scream you do A) sit in your room helpless and afraid
B1) check out the noise, make sure your family's okay, if all is okay, go back to sleep re-assured
B2)check out the noise, run like heck

I live in a rural area.

I live with a flatmate and she was asleep at the other end of the house.

Thing is the scream, although I'm quite certian it was a scream, was definately not human, not any normal human anyways.

I swear this was no normal run-of-the-mill sound, it was different, very different.

Trust me though, I live in a town rife with petty crime, I'm a pretty well built guy, not anything special, but I've done my part protecting my driveway and scaring of a few would be intruders at my place and the neighbours.

If I hear a strange noise outside, ever since I was 13 it's been my instict to go outside and check if anyones trying to break into the car, and if there is, kick the sh!t out of them.

When I'm too scared to check out the noise, it's not a normal noise, you have to beleive me, this freaked my out to the fullest.

could you describe the sound or something? saying inhumam could be a beaver screech for all anyone knows!
