I watch/used to watch all of those shows on a regular basis(except Spongebob and Pimp my Ride), but what's up with the lack of X-Files and Boy Meets World. Seinfelds my shit too.

Ghost Hunters is great. I really enjoyed the Penn. Eastern Prison episode. Very creepy!

Eastern State Pennitentary? My sisters go there all the time during halloween time.

William One Sac
12-27-2004, 07:00 PM
Thats the place! Very haunted, seriously!

Anyhow, why wait for Halloween? I'd go now, except its like 10 degrees outside and I have been having some very disturbing nightmares.

Nightmares? Do tell. Go to the dream dictionary part though to tell. Oh hell might as well tell here it's off topic anyway.

William One Sac

I will tell them in the dictionary thread.

agentmoulder254

I think it's only open for the public in groves during Halloween.

is that good or bad?

ah, i don't care.

I haven't had television programming in such a long time; since all those reality shows came to dominate tvseveral years ago and i got fed up with television news programs i stopped watching, just found it to be way to mind numbing and found many more productive ways to spend the time.

it's evil.
pure evil.
especially the shit that's fed to people.

agentmoulder254

...its a compliment coming from me, ase is one of the coolest people i know

...let me guess what you're going to say next, television programming is just that, programming our minds

paedia
01-04-2005, 07:00 PM
i suppose you could say that.

but thats not what i was going to say.

my problem with tv is simple. I see it as useless and providing no benefit. I can be entertained doing constructive things, such as reading or researching on the net, rather than sitting down and watching the news there, or some idiotic reality tv show that, in my opinion is just trash. While I don't doubt there is quality programming out there, it's far from being a top choice for people, or availible in copious amounts like the trash is.

It's my opinion, and not watching is a personal choice and has nothing to do with the belief that its programing.
Though, you can't deny all those adverts (if you dont change channels) do do a bit of programming. It's hard to avoid that: if you don't see the shit on tv you'll see it on a billboard, on the side of a bus, etc.

agentmoulder254

The adverts aren't the only programming, the news is famous for it, try Fox News for example, they have one liberal on the station(Colmes), no independents, and the rest are Conservatives. Rupert Murdoch also makes sure that the guests are always 3/2:1 in ratio of conservatives to liberals. Fair and balanced? I think not.

William One Sac

I hate commercials! >(

But I do watch some tv. I am not big on reality tv, except for the show Cops. I do like movies however.

I've never seen Fox News (I'm in Canada), but that's not the first time I've heard what you said.

agentmoulder254

Oh ok, but if you wanted to learn some stuff about it(I don't know why if you're never going to see it anyway, but oh well) rent OutFoxed: Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism, it's really good.

David87
01-06-2005, 07:00 PM
Overall, it is fair and balanced if you consider that every other channel is liberal. Watch ABC or CNN, and you hear what the liberals have to say, watch FOX and you hear what the conservatives have to say.

agentmoulder254
01-06-2005, 07:00 PM
The thing is that ABC and CNN don't call themselves Fair and Balanced

David87
01-07-2005, 07:00 PM
True, but I have heard them say "unbiased" at least once. The problem with all news today is that it's far too biased and more political and social commentary than actual news.

Oh yeah, and there's not a single anchorman or woman you can really trust anymore. They're almost all fonies and as far as we know, we might as well have a Wag The Dog scenario going on.

agentmoulder254
01-07-2005, 07:00 PM
I don't know what a Wag the Dog scenario is, but I do know that you're right that every news station is corrupt.

David87
01-07-2005, 07:00 PM
That's the movie where they make up the news. I think it's a phrase also. I'm pretty sure no one goes that far, except they do tend to make up numbers and exaggerate.
Personally, I prefer FOX news because you don't hear phrases like "the importance of seperation of church and state, and not offending the public" or "the radical right-wing Christians pushing their agenda".

American Witch Hunts

Our priest is the pedo next door
Goody Proctor’s a whore
Commies under my bed
Putting thoughts in my head
Must be the Devil’s stunt
Oh wo wo oh wo
American Witch Hunts
Oh wo wo oh wo
American Witch Hunts
There’s a full moon now
So there’s witches out there
But your innocent
So why should you care
But your guilty of something without a doubt
It’s only so long until they find out
Cause you’ve been reading strange books
And giving strange looks
The Thought Police are coming
The Thought Police are coming
Oh wo wo oh wo
American Witch Hunts
Oh wo wo oh wo
American Witch Hunts
Now I’m in prison for speaking my mind
Freedom of speech and religion have died
All this time I’m trying to find
How the real bad guys get away with their crimes
Oh wo wo oh wo
American Witch Hunts
American Witch Hunts
Oh wo wo oh wo
American Witch Hunts

Talk about synchronicity! 8D I was thinking about making a topic about witch hunts. I forget what I was going to write, the thought floated through my head as I sat in the gas station staring vacantly at the dashboard. Until now, you reminded me with your discombobulated song lyrics David! 8D WOW!

agentmoulder254
01-10-2005, 07:00 PM
...and the point of saying that was?

William One Sac
01-11-2005, 07:00 PM
The point was it is a coincidence, and I was just pointing that fact out. I am really fascinated by coincidences, sometimes weird, off-beat ones like the above just seem too coincidental. Ya know?

I know I am plunging off topic here, but hear me out. I went to a seminar given by the leader of some cult in New Mexico one evening. He said alot of outrageous things, not the least of which was trying to get people to come to the compound, but he also said there were no such thing as coincidences.

He said that while we slept, at some point our minds entered a higher plane of existence. On this plane we meet one another, talk, hang out and make really, really, really weird deals. One of the bizarre things he said is that we make a deal to allow bad things to happen to ourselves, that there is no such thing as a true victim. For example, if you get mugged and stabbed, it is because you met with the criminal in your sleep and made a deal to allow that to happen. The reason you agree to this is not obvious to us while we are awake, the reasons are more esoteric.

I dont buy any of that, I just thought I would share.

But one of the intiguing things he spoke about were coincidences, and how there were no such thing, just agreements made with each other and ourselves with beings who dwell all the time in these higher dimensional manifestations.

So you can say coincidences intrigue me.

...actually, i was referring to david's post, sorry for the confusion

...i personally dont believe in coincidences either, it's called "destiny" im sure you've heard it before

William One Sac

Tell me your thoughts about destiny? Dont you believe in free will?

agentmoulder254

The human brain is limited to three dimensions of thought and processing, and although that's a lot, it is still limited. The way a human being reacts is due to how he was raised and the factors in his memory. And the reactions of a human determine the other reactions, and it can all be traced back until the first action, and since then, it seems like everything has been a stimulus of that, and not a term of free will.

David87
01-13-2005, 07:00 PM
You were talking about brainwashing and commies, that's why the song came to mind.

As for coincidences and the things that go on in our sleep, my brother recently woke up and said "that one girl is about to call and say she's married" and the girl called and said she just got married. He hadn't heard from her in awhile though and didn't even know she was dating or why he said what he did.

As for free will, if there is no free will, then no one is truely guilty of anything and we should all be forgiven for what we do. If we don't decide our own fates, then either nature, God, society, or a combination thereof are what decides our fate and we shouldn't be held responsible. That's the way I see it anyway.

Well there may be a reason, to seperate good from evil

William One Sac

I just read a story in Time where a US soldier, in 1964, defected into North Korea thinking he would get a break and be deported back to the US. His reasoning was that once he snuck into N Korea he would just continue into Russia and so on. Well needless to say, the traitor spent the next 40 years living in N Korea under the most horrendous of situations. He did escape last year, and I think that even though he deserted, he was punished much more than he could have imagined living in N Korea. Its a really screwed up tale. He escaped last year and is now living in Japan, but I fear the story doesnt end there!
