Now this is just tragic. I feel for the families of the victims. It is interesting how evn though they stated it was a structural collapse, I just heard that the Saftey Board was assembling in washington but they were not sure they could arrange for transportation tonight???????????Huh? You know not one media outlet is covering the fact that just yesterday there was another bridge collapse in cal. http://www.timesheraldonline.com/ci_6516042 It made me think instantly about 2 months ago and the Oakland Bay bridge collapse...

I was on that bridge yesterday morning, eight hours prior to collapse. I take (took) my son across that bridge every Monday through Wednesday to school. Yesterday we were on our way to a therapy appointment and were stopped in traffic on the middle of it. Creepy.

Yeah, it's crazy. We'd take that route, and hop off the first exit after the bridge to jump on University Ave., but they've been rehabing the bridge deck and the joints in the road, so the next three exits are closed. It just so happened that my son had an appointment five miles up from there on 35w and we crossed the bridge at 8:30 yesterday morning. The fickle finger of fate pointed in the other direction.

Damn.
By any chance, does anyone know the casualties?

four confirmed, so far, 60 injured, and cars still in the water that have steel and concrete ontop of them. All in all, to have a low number at rush hour, is semi-fortunate.

I had no idea you were so close to the tragedy, I am so grateful you and your son are safe. We all have to keep diligent in this day and age. Try to find a school closer to home for your son. Just wanted to tell you I am glad you're both well. And was shocked to hear that you were involved.

My son had a stroke before he was born and has been diagnosed autistic, so the best schools for him are all in the city. I, however, am a country mouse and detest the teaming hoards of humanity. Sometimes you have to venture into the belly of the beast.
They're not ruling out pidgeon poop as a corrosive agent on the bridge supports. Ok, when the Goodfethers are taking out a bridge, it's time to call it a day.

I've been on that bridge before, though only a few times. I have family in sacramento luckily none of them were involved. Personally, I hate driving there, too crowded and full of people who are clueless as to where they are going. Glad to hear you are ok freemasonz. Strange to have something like that happen so close to home.
