I just wanted to ask you all a question and be honest since no one knows who we are for real...but have you ever been busy and you turn and for just a fraction of a second you thought you saw someone...but of course when you take a good look there is NO ONE there? But whatever it was that you thought you saw startled and frightened you? I did that yesterday and I don't remember having done that before! I was putting something in the kitchen cabinet and as I closed the door and looked to my left there was a flash of a man's head and face clearly outlined (I couldn't make out any facial features but just the shape of the head and color of the hair etc.)I'd like to now if any of you have had that experience before.....

OMG! It's pretty creepy, to experience, huh?!? Where you by yourself, at the time? That makes it even worse, does'nt it?!?
I used to work in a flower shop, that used to be an old farmhouse...
The experience was during some holiday, where we had to work late hours & my boss had gone on home, around midnite. I'd stayed, til around 3 a.m. doing "prep-work" on some bouquets...went to grab a bucket of flowers, to put in the cooler & out of the corner of my eye, saw my "boss" standing in the next room, smiling at me!!!
Of course, I jumped about three feet in the air, thinking I was the ONLY one still there!!!
Still brings goosebumps, to my skin...when I did the double-take & was going to say something to "her"...there was NOBODY there!!!
Needless to say, the bucket of flowers got thrown hastily in the cooler & got my scaredy-cat A$$ OUTTA THERE!!
That place was FREAKY CREEPY after 2 o'clock, in the morning!!! Creepy, to the point, it made the skin on the back of your neck, tingle...like there was someone standing behind you, with very bad intentions...
Eek...like my Mothers' house, which is also, over a hundred years old now.
Egads! That basement & it's back rooms, when the sun is just starting to set...or the second-story, where the "Servants Quarters" used to be, before they remodeled them into apartments...*shudders!*
Ewww, the Bad-Vibes that used to put out!!! 'Specially that back bedroom, where the door to the attic was!!
Or, those times of, the momentary feeling of happiness/comfort, when you spot what you think is a long-gone pet, followed by that feeling of sadness...when you look again & there's nothing there. :(

I'm glad you responded and were honest about your experience too. I was in fact alone at the time and that did make it creepier than heck. It really startled me when it happened. If it had been night time and I was creeped out about something else I could better understand (like reading a creepy book and getting freaked out about little noises etc.)but this was in the day time I was busy and not afraid of anything and then bam! I can't recall that happening before that episode. Who ever this man was I have no idea; he didn't resemble anyone that I can think of. I used to live in a house in Illinois and it was 98 years old when we moved in and it was haunted...creepy and I could go on and
on about living there! I'll just saw it changed my mind about a lot of things.

Wow! Small world...these houses were in Illinois! My animal "sitings" were always during the daytime, but never happened, while living in Illinois...mostly with cats, or should I say, cat-like sensations? They've always been more comforting, than scary.
For some reason, seeing a glimpse, of a "person", scares me worse, than seeing an "animal" out of the corner of my eye...what about you? Is it because people have the potential, to hurt us worse?!?
Oh yeah, you were saying this was your first time, experiencing this!
The only time, I've experienced seeing people like that, during the day, is when napping & in that half-asleep/half-awake phase. You know, when the daylite is shining on your face & you're desperately trying to fully wake up & just can't seem to...argh!
Have you ever been in that state & felt like something/someone was on top of you & holding you down? (Wah!!! :( Makes you wanna check all the rooms & closets, to make sure there's not really ANYBODY there!)
Sorry, I don't have any answers for you! I'm just as confused about these events as you are!! At least now, we've got someone else to discuss & compare notes with, on these odd experiences!

Since we've lived in this apt. we have had a creepy things happen too. I think ghosts must follow us everywhere we go. One evening I was at my desk and all the smoke alarms went off at the same time! The weird thing is they are all battery operated! I went through the house and then upstairs to check those and wake my daughter and I couldn't figure out why they were all screaming away and it was driving me bonkers with all the noise. I contemplated taking the batteries out of them and was standing there and I told my dgt. I wish to heck these da** things would shut up and just after I said that they all stopped! Figure that one out as I haven't yet. Then today I was sleeping (hadn't done much else but nap off and on today)and all of a sudden the smoke alarm goes off in my room (the only one)and I jumped out of bed to try and figure out why it was alarming and then the thing stopped!
I am going to start keeping a record of the weird things here, they aren't heart stopping events but they are weird for sure!

That sounds like it would be helpful, as you might start noticing a pattern, whether it's certain times of the day mainly, or during certain activities, in your usual routine.
You're right, about these kinds of happenings! But, even if not downright heart-stopping, sure does make the little hairs on the back of your neck start to prickle & feel like they're standing straight out!
Is it a common thing, for a ghost to move, with a person, from house to house? From what I understand, a spirit can & does...or do you consider a ghost & spirit, the same thing?
Argh! There's SO much I don't understand, or know about these kinds of things! However, I am enjoying discussing these things with you! :D

I guess to me they are both the same. I was looking at a site on the internet the other day and this lady captured a shadow person on her web camera. It is really creepy. It just showed the black form of a person (no obvious features etc.)floating in the air near the ceiling and then another of it kind of drifting down to the floor in an elongated form...yech. I do think that ghosts or spirits follow you from place to place. Whatever in the heck they want with me I have no idea! Frankly I wish there weren't such things but I do 'feel' them and don't like it. When I think of believing in a higher power and how it might relate to ghosts and spirits...I can only wonder why the bad things are allowed to have a life after death. Or do we assume that a higher power doesn't have a control over everything...food for thought.

I think its really easy to imagine things, especially when you're alone and more suggestible. In the same way you lot seem to see people around you, i commonly mistake boxes/toys/lumps of clothing for cats.

InquiringB, what is the link to that vid? I'm in need of a good "creeping out!"
Speaking of getting creeped out, why is it, when some people touch, or try to touch us, does it send shivers down the back of our necks, clear down our spines??? Egads! Sometimes, it's hard to shake that sensation!!! :(
Green, the "people" I "see" out of the corner of my eye, does turn out to be just an article of clothing, or piece of furniture, once I focus fully on it.
As far as the "cats"...maybe they're just one of those "floatie-thingies" in my eyes?
The coolest thing to happen to me, was years ago, when my son was about 4 & I started going to this one church, that was truly Holy Spirit filled, at the time...
I was standing there, with my eyes closed praying & it felt like a small child had run up & grabbed my legs, in an enthusiatic embrace! Thinking it was my son, I reached down, immediately, to return the hug...and, opened my eyes, to see that it was'nt him. Or, any see-able being!
It did'nt freak me out, but was more of a warm, comforting feeling. I loved it!

Yes it happened to me in a warehouse where I used to work. It was after hours and I was checking inventory in an isle with racks on both sides. I turned my head and quickly saw the outline of a middle aged woman. She was dressed in a "older style" house dress. I knew it was a woman and I had an idea about the dress even though this happenned in a "split" second.
The next morning, I asked another employee about the history of the business, and she informed me that a middle aged woman had died there at work during working hours. I always wondered if that was the lady I saw----

I often times will see movement out of my periphery. I don't know why. Some people have told me that when this happens, it means there are shadow people around. For some reason we are not capable of focusing on them directly. But it does happen frequently. Sometimes it is a little startling too. I will think there is a bug crawling on me, and my head snaps around. Of course when I look there is nothing there.
As for shadow people, I can't say that they really exist, but a lot of people feel they do. I suppose it is possible they are real. I do believe in things like ghosts and lost souls, so who knows.
I had an experience as a small child that I remember vividly to this day. I guess I was around 3 to 5 years old. I had just gone to bed when something caused me to open my eyes. I saw a group of people standing in the middle of the room watching me. I got scared and started to scream. They remained where they were, and continued to watch me in silence. My parents came into the room and they disappeared. My father said that I must have been dreaming. But if so it is unlike any dream I have ever had. Anyhow, I don't hallucinate or anything, but I was so certain that what I saw was real. Who knows?

Sorry ya'll...have'nt been here, in quite a while, to reply sooner... =(
Your stories are extremely interesting & it seems like, we all share the same beliefs. It's refreshing to be able to discuss this, with open-minded people!
GlobalJoe: It is terribly unsettling, to look up & catch a glimpse of someone/something that's unexplainable...and HAVE to be STUCK there, cuz you're at your job!!!
You're torn between, wanting to just get the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks outta there...and completing, what you're expected to do! How'd the REST of your shift go, that night?!? Bet ya spent it, looking over your shoulder, huh? (And, I CAN'T blame ya!!!)
Especially, after finding that out, about the woman that died there???
Some of us, are just more sensitive, to Spiritual things than others...is'nt it wild, to think of ALL the things, going on around us...that most others CAN'T see? Eek!
William: Like you, I also remember odd/scary events, as a small child! No matter how much, other people would try to say, "Oh...you were JUST dreaming!" there's certain details, that tell us otherwise!
Even then, we could TELL a difference, between an "extremely realistic" dream, upon fully awakening...and...an occurrance, that we just could'nt dismiss, ever!
If I've had a dream, during early morning, or napping later in the day, when there's the possibility of sunlight shining on my face...will tend to dismiss them, as "only dreaming."
But, like you, to be awaken in the middle of the night, by such a sight...is hard to completely dismiss, or be "explained away" by other peoples' logic!
I find it, a blessing that we can view, such things...now, if we only knew how to apply that knowledge, to our lives & others... =)
