Urban legends....
Not sure if this is the best place to add this post but I was watching a program the other night and it was saying that in the late 1970'2 that there were many reports of huge flying birds reported all over the U.S. and I believe some foreign countries. In one scene in the show they show this gigantic bird (unlike we normally see anyway)picking this boy up off that the ground that is running away from the bird. The bird manages to lift the boy off the ground (he appeared to be somewhere between 7-10 years old) but cannot hold him and
lets the boy drop. What is really strange is I remembered from the 70's two incidents that occurred to me and my daughter. One day I had been to visit a local college and was driving along the interstate. As I looked to my right and parallel to the interstate were a lot of tall trees. It was at that point that I noticed something very odd! There was a big bird (he was so huge that I could see him from my car without any difficulty)sitting about mid way up the tree on a long limb. I stared at this bird in disbelief and thought how odd to see something that huge in the city and how weird it appeared to be some kind of bird from the dinosaur time practically! I wish I could have stopped and looked at him for a longer period of time and perhaps a little closer but I was driving on the interstate at the time and couldn't. Now, I can't recall how soon after that incident that my dgt. came running in the house all excited and telling me there was a giant bird in the tree and to come look! At the time I had forgotten about what I had seen that day on the interstate and just assumed like it is with kids that she was just exaggerating and you know how kids are always coming to you to tell you to come look at something. Anyway, by the time I went out of the house to go see what she was talking about the bird was gone. My daughter said however that it was huge and she described it as best she could. Later I wondered if she had seen the same bird that I had seen along the interstate. The distance from the college to my home then was less than 20 miles so to me it was entirely possible it was one in the same bird.
